The Worlds Best Airlines

Since 1993 Skytrax has been voting on the Worlds Best Airlines by comparing international airlines to find out who’s the best when it comes to customer satisfaction. In 2013 the World Airline Award was presented to Emirates. More than 18 million passengers from over 160 different countries rated 200 airlines according to service, cleanliness and entertainment in an online survey to determine the winner.

The Worlds Best Airline of the Year 2013: Emirates

For the second time after 2002 Emirates have earned the title of being the best airline in the world. One of the airline’s most beloved features is its first class entertainment programme. However, customers also praised the comfort of seats (wide and spacious), attentiveness of staff and the overall price performance ratio.

Number 2: Quatar Airways

Last year’s winner is still among the top ten, but has dropped one place down to number 2.

Number 3: Singapore Airlines

The airline had been voted the very best in 2007 and 2008. This year it still convinces 18 million passengers mostly with its on-board entertainment programme and is ranked third.

Number 4: ANA All Nippon Airways

Japan’s biggest airline has improved one spot in the ranking thanks to its most impressing cleanliness.

Number 5: Asiana Airlines

The South Korean Airline satisfied most customers with its friendly staff and catering in the Economy Class.

Number 6: Cathay Pacific Airways

The airline dropped in the overall ranking from 4 to 6. However, Cathay Pacific got awarded with having the best crew out of all airlines surveyed.

Number 7: Etihad Airways

If you travel First Class, Etihad is the way to go according to the survey. The airline situated in Abu Dhabi won the award in that category. Overall, however, they only came 7th.

Number 8: Garuda Indonesia

Next up is the national airline of Indonesia. Having undergone major refurbishments proved quite futile. In 2007 and 2008 Garuda wasn’t even allowed to land in any of the EU countries due to safety issues. Now it keeps its customers happy enough to be placed among the worlds best airlines.

Number 9: Turkish Airlines

It’s the only European airline to make it into the Top Ten! Turkish Airlines scored mostly with its catering as passengers enjoyed the range of food available on board.

Number 10: Qantas Airways

Operating since 1920 Australia’s biggest airline has only just made it into the Top Ten. It’s an improvement compared to being ranked 15th the previous year.
